Laurie has a BS with a focus on Nutrition and a minor in Psychology and Economics from Florida State University. She completed the Dietetic Internship along with her Master’s degree with honors at North Carolina Central University (Masters in Family and Consumer Sciences). At NCCU she was a member of Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society.

Laurie joined Essential Nutrition in December 2009 and specializes in Eating Disorders with over 6 years of experience. She began working on the Eating Disorder Unit at UNC Hospital as a dietetic technician for two years when the unit opened in 2003, and helped develop the nutrition program. Upon completion of her dietetic internship, she started working as a RD on the Eating Disorder Unit, and currently works there full time. She also is a member of the American Dietetic Association, serves as President Elect for the Dietetic Chapter-Durham Chapel Hill Dietetic Association, and will serve as President in 2011-2012. Laurie is married and is expecting her first child in 2011.
